How do I make a PCI slot on my desktop to install Linksys Wireless G PCI Adapter?

Trying to set up a wireless router. They told me to buy a USB adapter (Linksys), but reviews show it disconnects quite often. I bought the PCI card but I have no slot for it - can it be done?
Sorry if confused, any help would be appreciated!
PCI slots are actually inside your computer. It is easy enough to do that. Look at the back of your PC. View all ports (modem, monitor, etc.)? Each of these is on a map similar to the one you bought.
- First of all TURN OFF THE COMPUTER --
To do this, you will have to remove the access panel on your PC. It should just be a couple of screws. Once that is cleared, you have to look and see where things you are already watching, and there should be a blank spot or 2 where your new card is inserted.
Towards the bottom of this slot on the PC itself there will be a cover plate that must be removed when your antenna will pass through the case. It has a screw in the upper part of it. Remove the plate and slide your card into the slot. then return that screw over the hole to keep it firmly in place. No need to make it too tight, just tight.
replace your roof and you're ready to configure the software.
If you feel any uncertainty about all that is needed to best buy or somewhere and they can do for you .... for a price of course.
If you've already tried this and really do not have more open, you can always remove your modem card and plug it in there as long as everything is on the modem. You will not be using anyway.

I need a wireless adapter. I chose Linksys. Which should I buy? Linksys Wireless PCI Card Adapter, or Linksys Wireless USB Adapter? Which is faster, which has more range?? Please answer. thanks
i prefer the USB so it can be moved around on the pigtail if a better signal is needed. It is a lot smaller and less likely to be damaged form handling. Have broken the antenna off of 4 different cards. They are held on with tiny plastic clips that break and cannot be replaced.
