Is there such a thing as a wireless USB hub?
Oct 10, 2006 by You may be right | Posted in Other - Hardware
I would like to plug in some USB devices into a hub, and be able to go anywere in my house with a laptop and not have the USB cable conneted to the laptop.
Can you point me to a website or give the name of a device that can do that.
This is a little tricky but I done it before. You can buy the NSLU2 linksys usb network storage link and than connect your usb hub to it. Than you can connect the NSLU2 to your wireless router and than there you go. The NSLU2 will see the USB hub as a hub and you'll be able to see everything connected to that hub.
If it doesn't work you can always return it within like 14 days. But like I said before it is tricky.

Computex 2011: NVIDIA Announces Wired 3D Vision Glasses
30.05.11
Technically Computex 2011 doesn’t start for another day, but already companies are announcing new hardware right ahead of the event in order to try to beat the rush. NVIDIA is one of those companies; at Computex they’re announcing their new wired 3D Vision glasses.
As a bit of background, since the introduction of 3D Vision in 2009 the hardware has remained relatively unchanged. NVIDIA launched with their wireless 3D Vision glasses kit at $199; more recently they dropped the price down to $149, but other than a slightly tweaked revision of the glasses offering double the battery life, the glasses themselves haven’t changed. Meanwhile, though wireless glasses are generally going to be the best way to use an active shutter 3D system, it does have a couple of downfalls: there’s only so much cost cutting that can be done, the need to have batteries and USB connectors on-board dictates design to some degree, and $150 objects that are not tied down tend to grow legs and walk away.
Just as you would add a power bar for additional outlets, USB hubs let you to do same except to add more USB ports for peripheral connections. They often come in 2 varieties: 4-port and 7-port USB hubs. Other more advanced USB hubs combine with serial, parallel, Ethernet and maybe USB audio / video output to form a brand-independent laptop docking station.
Installing a USB hub is simply a job of connecting the hub itself, AC adapter and USB cable, but if you already have a mix of Hi-Speed USB and classic USB devices, getting them to coexist could be a challenge. The reason is that two isochronous devices (real-time video & audio) can already saturate the classic speed bus. If you need a couple of different classic USB devices to operate simultaneously, multi-transaction translator USB hubs are crucial as they allocate dedicated 12Mbps bandwidth. Unlike the competitors, Targus USB docking station has a true USB video output that delivers a SVGA at 16-bit color which you can use to expand desktop or to use as a primary display. Tuning down res. will boost depth to 32-bit. Other interesting features include a USB audio in/out adapter; and 2 1,000mA ports for rapid battery charging. The Belkin TuneSync for iPod features no less than 5 extra USB 2.0 ports in addition to the dock for your iPod. The Belkin charges your iPod or iPod mini while it syncs your tunes. The TuneSync includes a handy stereo-out jack for speakers, stereo or headset. LEDs help you monitor your ports and the unit has overcurrent protection as well.
