How do I make my USB wireless adapter to connect faster to a wireless network?

I bought this D-Link DWL-G122 USB adapter so I can connect to a wireless network at home, but it takes too much time before it can detect the wireless network. How can I run faster?

There may be interference from other sources such as microwave ovens, or wireless network from a neighbor. Try changing the channel your wireless network. Channels range from 1 to 11. Try different channels to find one without as much interference.

There is also the possibility that the time is normal. Some wireless security and encryption settings to slow down the time it takes to connect to your network. However you should always be within a few seconds more. If you wait minutes to get online, there is no doubt wireless interference, and your best bet is to change channels.

Will a USB Wireless adapter connect a computer to a home WiFi network?

I'm fairly sure that it will, I just need clarificaition.

Also, in your opinion what would be better to get for a desktop, a wireless card or a USB adapter?

As both above have stated it will work just fine. USB is easier to setup and install, you don't have to OPEN the computer.

BUT on a desktop use a wired connection! It will be faster, work better, and keep better all around performance. Since you don't move a desktop around wired is just more secure and stable!

This really is going to make life simple for most people. All you need do install this program once, plug in the USB wireless adapter, and set your video output to the "second monitor". There's no need to mess around with specialized movie playing software, like the Veebam HD provides. If you know how to plug in a second monitor to your laptop and use it to watch movies on, you will easy figure out how this device works. If you have ever used a DisplayLink product such as the IOGEAR HD video adapter , then you will be up and running with zero issues.

The only thing you really need worry about is making sure
