How should I configure my linksys usb wireless adapter to connect to a belkin router?
Jul 16, 2007 by seventhyearfalling | Posted in Computer Networking
Hi! I try to connect my Linksys Wireless USB Adapter (WUSB54G SpeedBooster model) to my Belkin router. It connects but tends to disconnect quickly enough once I start surfing the net or download. I think the settings on my Linksys may be different from my router. How do I configure my Linksys adapter (fragmentation threshold, channel, etc.) to match the default settings on a Belkin router? Any suggestions on how to maintain the link? Thank you!
PS: Does anyone know the default settings for a Belkin router? Thank you for the info but to clarify that I want to know what settings I need to match between the adapter and the router, either - fragmentation threshold, channel, ect. or if there is another reason why it would disconnect. I-do-security center windows have reduced mobility. Could it be?
On the router there is a reset button on the router, hold it for about 30 seconds still connected to the reset to factory settings.
As for the wireless card, once the router is reset it should just connect automatically unless the router is security enabled by default.

I have a wireless linksys usb adapter that allows my computer to connect to the internet. If I plug this device into the back of my xbox 360 console, will it allow me to connect to xbox live?
no it will not work. microsoft removed the drivers for all of the usb receivers other than the xbox 360 receiver.

Linksys WES610N Entertainment Bridge and RE1000 Range Extender
23.09.11
I've been testing Cisco's latest Wi-Fi products for a few weeks now, and they've really helped me get uniform wireless coverage all throughout my house. The two things I've checked out are the WES610N Dual-Band N Entertainment Bridge and the RE1000 Wireless-N Range Extender.
The entertainment bridge is a Wi-Fi receiver, which connects to your Wi-Fi router and offers four Ethernet teats for your non-Wi-Fi-enabled devices to suck on. Rather than buying an Xbox 360 Wi-Fi dongle, a TiVo Wi-Fi adapter, and a USB Wi-Fi adapter for your nettop, one $99 Entertainment bridge will get everything in your media center online.
From my test, it works really well. I was able to get an Ethernet-only desktop online and playing Team Fortress 2 with just about as much latency as if it were physically hooked up to my router. Because the bridge only has 10/100 and not Gigabit Ethernet, it's not really meant for transferring a lot of large files. But, it does have both 2.4 and 5 GHz, and works on 802.11n. If you've been holding out for a wireless adapter for any of your entertainment items, this seems like a better fit than buying them individually.
dups.ca ยป Tech Review: Linksys Wireless USB Adapter on Windows 7
by dups
So I moved my desktop running Windows 7 to a part of the house where running cables would be just plain old ugly. To fix the situation I went out and bought a Wireless USB from Linksys. This was not an easy decision, I’m not exactly the biggest fan of Linksys, but there was an open box item for $60 a Wireless N USB adapter (WUSB600N ver 2.0) . I figured the worst was I would return it as well.
Well, as it turned out I think I might have a couple ideas why someone returned it in the first place.
First, Windows 7: The drivers that ship with the adapter are for Vista and do not work with Windows 7. I tried everything from manually opening the device manager and trying to manually install the drivers, no dice. I tried using generic USB adapters, no luck. A pretty frustrating experience, especially when Cisco/Linksys haven’t posted any Windows 7 drivers as of this past weekend. Poor showing on their part I thought. Finally, exasperated and near to returning it I read somewhere to check Windows Update.
Now this is an interesting problem, it’s a chicken and egg situation. For Windows Update, you need a net connection, but the thing I’m trying to install is what gives me the net connection. Sigh. Luckily for me I can stretch a cord out to the computer and get the net, I wonder about those that can’t. Could this be the reason someone returned this? Regardless, if you are in this predicament, yes Windows Update has the latest drivers and the entire thing was up and running in seconds.
As for the device itself, I can only guess that another reason someone might have returned it is the poor reception quality if you use the included USB extender cable. I can’t quite understand this, but the extender cable actually drops the reception quite dramatically even though I can then take the USB adapter closer to the wireless router. Very odd. Connecting it directly to the computer was fine (and I tried multiple USB slots).
So, reluctantly, I folded down the rabbit ears on the Linksys unit, turned off the wireless feature and hooked up a separate Belkin wireless router with
