Does it matter which kind of WiFi antenna connects to the internal wireless PCI card?

I recently decided to upgrade my Dell Inspiron B120. I bought a mini-PCI internal WiFi card, only to discover that my Dell Inspiron B120 has been one of the few that have been made without the WiFi antenna built in. Now I have to install the antenna. I need to know if I need a special antenna to connect to my PCI card or will any work for the WiFi antenna?

It's really strange that this does not come with internal antenna. You can get the antenna as it is after all just a set of metal and son.

HTC Salsa Review

Hardware

Out of HTC’s two Facebook-centric phones, the Salsa is perhaps the less inspiring design-wise. Reminiscent of the HTC Legend , it has a unibody metal chassis with a plastic “chin” section, camera surround and battery cover/antenna, all finished in various shades of purple. Considering it’s intended to be a relatively budget device, build quality is surprisingly high: the 4.3 x 2.32 x 0.48 inch, 120g handset is just as creak-free as the range-topping Sensation .

Up front is a 3.4-inch 480 x 320 touchscreen, with the usual row of touch-sensitive Android keys – home, menu, back and search – underneath. On the chin, however, is the new Facebook button, a physical key which can light up depending on when HTC’s custom Facebook services can be used. A volume rocker is on the top left-hand side, above a microUSB charge/sync port, while the power/lock button is on the top edge by the 3.5mm headphones socket. Finally, there’s a dedicated camera shortcut on the right edge, a rare – and welcome – addition to HTC’s Android line-up.

Mobile Computing Forum - Samsung Q1 Ultra - Q1 Ultra Win7 WiFi ...

I have been running Win7 for a few months and WiFi connectivity was fine for my old D-Link router that I ran unsecure (no encryption). That router was a piece of crap so I just replaced it with a Linksys WRT160N that has been a very big improvement save for the Q1 connection issue. I have tried WEP (40bit) and WPA-PSK (Personal) and both work fine for all other systems but not on the Q1. I even upgraded the Win7 install from the RC to the RTM release in hopes that might address the WiFi problem but no luck. I don't want to run unsecure, though I am in a very rural area with little chance of unwanted access, but still I prefer to be safe vs sorry. I'm thinking of trying to completely reset the Winsock stack using a netsh command, maybe somethings cached that prevents connection? When I try to connect either manually or with the 'automatic connection' wizard I am prompted (or manually enter) the correct WEP or WPA key and then apply. The network is then immediately unavailable but there is no inidication that the 'Key is incorrect', etc. Looking for ideas at this point but I know the Atheros AR5006X chip works fine since I use it to connect all the time at work to the public WiFi network. Thanks so much for both replies! I stayed up late last night & fixed the problem. It was a problem with the new router. For some unknown reason, it added the MAC address of the Q1 to the WiFi MAC filter list (blacklist). Once I looked on that TAB in the wireless config page for the router, I saw one non-null address & figured I should remove it & try again. That worked, but I'm really surprised that it was added; but something about the setup may have triggered a rule for some reason.
